Launch Operator

This sixteen (16) hour course is designed for those working at yacht clubs, marinas, camps or other situations where he or she would be operating a launch. The course covers safe boat handling, regulations, marlinspike seamanship, navigation rules, and aids to navigation. Candidates must have reached their 17th birthday prior to taking the course and be able to document 120 days of sea time.

Upon completion of the course,  candidates will need to pass,  complete and submit the following to the USCG

  1. Application
  2. TWIC-Transportation Worker Identification Credential
  3. Merchant Mariner Oath - must be notarized
  4. Physical Exam - CG719K
  5. Drug Test
  6. References- 3, must not be family members
  7. Documentation of 120 days of service on small vessels, using CG719S
  8. Safe Boating Certificate- issued within the last 5 years
  9. Course Completion Certificate
  10. CG FEES - $100 EVALUATION + $45 ISSUE FEE

FIRST AID/CPR - Not required LICENSE WILL BE VALID UP TO 1/2NM FROM SHORE with valid First aid and CPR, without IT WILL BE LIMITED TO 1000 FEET FROM SHORE.

At the end of the process, candidates will be issued: “Limited Master of Self-Propelled Vessels engaged in Launch Tender Service upon the waters of Sector Southeast New England, not more than 1/2NM from shore”. OR not more than 1000 feet from shore without First Aid/CPR.
